AACR2 Anglo American Cataloguing Rules

Introduction

This is an attempt by Yu Liu and Thomas Krichel to make the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules more publicly available. As a first step, we are typing The concise AACR2, 2004 edition prepared by Michael Gorman into a bunch of web pages. We do not intend to reproduce the examples contained in the book publication. Instead we will produce our own and/or use contributed examples. Comment of our own are highlighted like this.

Controversy

We understand that this project is a blatant violation of the copyright that the American Library Association, the Canadian Library Association and Chartered Institute of Library and Information Professionals hold in Michael Gorman’s book. We hope that they will welcome this web version as a more convenient and cost-effective way to access the book.
