5B1 Bibliographic resources other than books and atlases

Record the number of parts of a resource by giving the number of pieces, etc., in arabic numbers and the name of the resource or parts taken from the following list.
Art pictures
Use art original, art print, or art reproduction, as appropriate.
Charts, etc
Use chart, poster, flip chart, or wall chart, as appropriate.
Electronic resources
If you are cataloguing an electronic resource that is only available remotely, leave this element black.
If you are cataloging an electronic resource that is available locally in a physical carrier, give the number of physical units and one of the following terms, as appropriate
  • computer disk cartridge
  • computer disk
  • computer optical disk
  • computer tape cartridge
  • computer tape cassette
  • computer tape reel
Optionally use a term in common usage to name the specific format.
Filmstrips and filmslips
Use filmstrip or filmslip as appropriate.
Maps, globes
Use map or globe as appropriate.
Microforms
Use microfiche, microfiche cassette, or microfilm, as appropriate. Add cartridge, cassette, or reel, as appropriate, to microfilm. Optionally, if you have used the general material designation mircofilm, omit micro from the statement of extent.
Motion pictures
Use film cartridge, film cassette, file loop or film reel as appropriate. Optionally, if you have used the general material designation film, omit film from the statement of extent.
Music
Use score and or part as appropriate.
Slides
Use slide.
Sound records
Use sound cartridge, sound cassette, sound disk or sound tape reel, as appropriate. Optionally, if you have used the general material designation sound, omit sound from the statement of extent.
Three dimensional objects
Use appropriate term (for example diorama, game, model, toy)
Videorecordings
Use videocartridge, videocassette videodisk or videoreel, as appropriate. Optionally, if you have used the general material designation video, omit video from the statement of extent.
Graphical materials other than those specified above.
Use an appropriate term (for example flash card, photograph). If the bibliographic resource has a playing time and that is stated on it or its container, or that can be accessed easily, add the playing time in parenthesis.
